Volunteer coaching and officiating

Are you enthusiastic and keen to help others? Would you like to develop your knowledge of Netball Coaching and/or Umpiring? Come and join us at Canterbury Academy Netball Club.

Volunteer coaching and officiating

Canterbury Academy Netball Club would love to hear from young people keen to volunteer with our Junior age groups, Under 11s through to 14 and 15 year olds.

We train on Monday evenings between September and July, we have sessions at 5:30pm and 6:30pm.

Our club coaches will be here to support you at every step of the way, and help you get involved in a way that suits you best.

Who you will be working with
Children and young people aged 9 to 15 years old who attend the netball club, Club coaches and committee members.
What specific tasks would you be doing
Supporting the lead coach to deliver the coaching sessions by: Setting up equipment, Taking the register, welcoming the members to the session, helping small groups with netball based activities set up by the lead coach, giving umpiring a go during match play.
Practical Considerations
Comfortable clothing and warm layers as our venue can be cold, it does require movement around the court during the sessions. We are based in Canterbury - there are bus routes and parking nearby
Who are we looking for / volunteer requirements
Someone who is friendly and approachable, enthusiastic and willing to learn, happy to help others and have fun. Experience of Netball is great but not essential.

Training provided
A full induction, opportunity to access sports leader, coaching and officiating courses. Ongoing mentor support from the existing coaches.

Develop your confidence and communication skills, enhance your leadership and team work, increase your knowledge of netball activities. Problem solving and adaptability when session numbers aren't what you expect or they have had a tough day!
