King Charles III England Coast Path Challenge
Join Explore Kent's 'King Charles III England Coast Path' Challenge and log all your walking and wheeling activities this July and August.
Description
Welcome to Explore Kent's 'King Charles III England Coast Path' Challenge.
The King Charles III England Coast Path is a trail that, when completed, will form a continuous path around England's coastline. In Kent this path is currently open in four sections: Camber to Ramsgate, Ramsgate to Whitstable, Whitstable to Iwade and Grain to Woolwich. Each section has something unique to offer whether you want to get lost in nature, enjoy a bustling seaside market or explore medieval castles. Read our guide The King Charles III England Coast Path Walking Challenge - Explore Kent to decide which section you'll be visiting first!
For this challenge we're inviting you to log all your walking and wheeling activities throughout the summer. In doing so, we'll calculate how many times we've collectively walked and wheeled along the coast path during this time, whilst highlighting the many scenic trails and activities we have available to us in Kent. We want to raise awareness of the King Charles III England Coast Path and to encourage everyone with all abilities to do so, however their means or transport is, on crutches, walking aid, mobility trike, wheelchair, powerchair etc. So whether you take a trip to the seaside and walk or wheel along the coastal path yourself, or take a trip around your local park, every walking and wheeling activity will count towards this challenge.
If you need any inspiration on walking routes, including accessible routes, please visit Welcome to Explore Kent - Explore Kent.
Please note, only walking and wheeling activities will count towards this challenge. You can still log other activities (like swimming, football, running, cycling, yoga) onto your personal tracker dashboard but the challenge leaderboard will only show steps and points relating to walking and wheeling activities. If you are using a wheelchair or motorised scooter please record your activity as 'self-propelled wheelchair' or 'walking' and add a distance travelled. SportSuite will use the distance travelled to calculate average steps and points. If your wheelchair is attendant controlled we would encourage you to enter the distance for both the individual in the wheelchair and for the individual controlling the wheelchair (2 entries into the challenge).
There will be a Challenge prize draw every 2 weeks throughout the challenge so everyone is in with a chance of being rewarded for their efforts. Prizes include family tickets from English Heritage, an overnight stay or a meal at a Shepherd Neame location along the coast or a choice of 3 Quiz Trails so you can learn more about the history of our coastal towns.
