Low Carbon Across the South East (LOCASE) grants
Did you know there's a grant scheme available for energy efficiency measures that could benefit your club? Many Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) including golf, rugby, football, bowls, tennis, gymnastics clubs, as well as multi-use sports centres and Leisure Trusts, have either succeeded in getting grants or are in the process of applying. Grants may be used towards a range of interventions, often to improve efficiency of lighting in sports facilities, and 14 facilities have already benefited in Kent. Up to £10k is available or 40% towards the cost of the initiative, with organisations match funding.

About Low Carbon Across the South East (LOCASE) grants
The Low Carbon Across the South East (LoCASE) programme is supported by the European Regional Development Fund to provide a free business support programme in the South East. Its aim is to help businesses become more competitive and profitable while protecting the environment and encouraging low carbon solutions.
To do this, LoCASE provides grants for businesses of up to £10,000 as well as training workshops and fully funded events. Of the 39 sports and leisure facilities that we've helped to date (18 in Kent) it has been mainly lighting that we've focused on. There has also been insulation, replacement heating/cooling systems, hot water provision and cellar cooling projects included too. On top of the examples below, we've worked with golf, tennis, rugby, football and athletics clubs…even Plumpton racecourse. As long as you're a trading status and classed as an SME then we can help!
The building is over 45 years old and one of the most vital areas to our operation is our eight court sports hall. This offers multi-activities for all ages and abilities and is in use seven days a week. The lighting had been consistently failing over the past few years, with fewer than 50% of the lamps still working… we've had nothing but positive comments from our many users, maintained our customer base and I've been kindly sent a 'Thank you' card from a few of the regular badminton players.
