Team Medway Social 8 Week Lockdown Challenge
This 8 Week Lockdown Challenge is open to staff and students across all the Universities at Medway.
From 1 April 2020 to 31 May 2020, the Lockdown Challenge is to keep active.
Can you achieve the NHS guidelines of activity throughout April and May? That is 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week (such as 3x25 minutes such as HIIT classes or interval training) or 150 minutes of moderate activity, (such as 5 x 30 minutes of brisk walking, cleaning, gardening or cycling).
With our lives turned upside down due to the Coronavirus, and with so many of us staying at home or indoors, keeping active is even more important than ever. It will help with your mental and physical wellbeing during these unprecedented times. Under the current Government Guidelines, you can still go outside for one form of exercise, such as a walk, a run or a cycle, if you're well enough and as long as you're on your own, or with members of your household. Please always follow the latest official advice on social distancing.
For those of you who are keeping active at home, with stair climbing, gardening, housework, dancing, or perhaps following an online class/workout, just log the activity on your activity timeline. You will probably find the equivalent activity in the dropdown activity menu (which already includes housework and gardening) and you can still record the number of steps you complete in the day under 'walking' and earn activity points.
Whatever you do to keep active, don't forget to log your daily activity (manually or by connecting your own FitBit, Strava or GoogleFit account to your Activity Tracker profile) and earn as many points as you can throughout the Challenge period.
With your help, let's make the universities at Medway the most active. Good Luck!
Please note, this challenge finishes at midnight 31 May 2020. Activities must be added by midnight on the last day of the challenge for it to count. Points will continue to appear on your activity tracker page after this date but won't be counted in the challenge.
