Coaching Masterclass with Nick Drane

Nick Drane is a professional coach with over fifteen years of experience, working full time in and around Suffolk. Nick is one of the most successful and respected basketball coaches in the country. He has worked, and been successful at almost every level possible. He has led the basketball revolution in Suffolk through his work with Ipswich Basketball, both as a community coach inspiring children and as a performance coach working at the highly acclaimed Ipswich Basketball Academy. His international CV include's two stints with the junior national teams (2011 and 2014) and was a European Silver Medal winner with the England u16's in 2011.

At club level Nick led Ipswich to a junior national title in 2009, and has since taken the Ipswich Basketball Academy to multiple national finals in both the men's and women's game. In recent years he is known mostly for his success as the Head Coach of Ipswich Basketball Club's Senior Men's team, who have raced through the national league since they were formed in 2011. The Ipswich team went from the bottom of division four in their first season to the top on division two in their third season. Establishing themselves are one of the most feared teams in all of the national league.

Not just a coach of players, 'Coach Drane' has also played a major part in the development of other budding professional coaches, with three products of the Ipswich programme now also working as full-time paid professionals and coaches within the national team set-up.

However, Nick's greatest strength is his versatility as a coach. Just as comfortable working with elite paid professionals and international athletes as he is inspiring a young person playing the game for the first time. No matter they age, gender, shape or size, coach Drane has a knack for getting the best out people.
